Most oilfields in KSA and the world are naturally fractured, and current industrial workflows are not well-suited to model them. The objective of this research is to develop a comprehensive workflow to model fractured reservoirs from lab to field scales. At lab scale, experimental data including geomechanics and flow in discrete fractures using finite element methods are used to understand the first principles. Learnings from lab scale are used to upscale the model to the field scale. This project is in collaboration with other researches at ANPERC and ARAMCO.
