Geothermal resources

Details

As a baseload source of power, geothermal energy has the potential to be a key component in the energy-mix for different countries. One key challenge in geothermal systems is in their low efficiency compared to traditional coal- and hydrocarbon-fired power plants. This inefficiency is typically related to the thermal flow behavior in the subsurface, heat loss, and to the energy conversion technology at the surface. The objective of this research is to develop a comprehensive workflow for optimum geothermal process design where we investigate the energy production performance and efficiency of alternative development scenarios under uncertainties by using Design of Experiments (DoE) and Monte-Carlo simulations.
