Research Interests

Dr. Zeeshan Tariq is currently a Research Scientist in the Advanced Reservoir Modeling and Simulation Group at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST). He holds a Ph.D. and Master’s degree from the College of Petroleum Engineering & Geosciences, King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals (KFUPM), Dhahran, Saudi Arabia.

Dr. Tariq’s research interests encompass geomechanics, deep learning, reservoir simulation, surrogate modeling, geological carbon storage, natural hydrogen production, and reservoir characterization.

He has published over 100 ISI-indexed research articles, accumulating more than 3,500 citations. His outstanding contributions to the field have earned him recognition in Stanford University’s prestigious list of the top 2% of world scientists in energy for three consecutive years (2021–2024).

Additionally, Dr. Tariq serves as a reviewer for several prestigious scientific journals, including Applied Energy, Fuel, Energy, SPE Journal, Natural Resources Research, Journal of Energy Storage, and many more.
