Research Interests

Professor Hoteit‘s research is focused on Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) schemes in Reservoir Engineering. Before joining KAUST, Prof. Hoteit worked for ConocoPhillips and Chevron Oil companies. He has about 15 years of cumulative experience in reservoir engineering, where he worked in projects related to Chemical Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR), CO2-EOR, microbial-EOR, steam injection, and reservoir simulation development. Prof. Hoteit has conducted research in different areas such as modeling multi-phase flow in naturally fractured reservoirs, modeling molecular diffusion and gas-oil interaction in fractured reservoirs, unconventional plays, improved SAGD, thermodynamic phase behavior, wax deposition in pipelines and other area related to discretization methods and gridding. Prof. Hoteit was SPE DL, distinguished lecturer in 2009, and has earned several SPE awards.  He serves as an Associate Editor for SPE Journal since 2006.
