Abdirizak’ s research is focused on understanding and optimizing subsurface processes and techniques to store CO2 in order to reduce net emissions. He studies how EOR can be coupled with CO2 storage. He also studies CO2 storage in reactive rocks/porous media such as basalts through carbon mineralization. His research is mainly done through numerical simulation complemented by experimental studies.
