The KAUST SPE team qualifies for PetroBowl Finals

25 July, 2018

The KAUST SPE PetroBowl team qualified in the 2018 MENA (Middle East North Africa) competition to participate in the PetroBowl Finals held during the September 2018 SPE Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition in Dallas, Texas, USA. In the PetroBowl competition SPE Student Chapter teams play against each other in a series of quick-fire rounds, answering technical and non-technical gas and oil-industry related questions. The PetroBowl competition has grown in size and popularity over the years and 2015 saw the introduction of six regional qualifier contests. The top 32 teams are invited to the PetroBowl Championship at the SPE Annual Conference.

The KAUST SPE has already established remarkable milestones in its short existence, winning the 1st place in the MENA region in 2015 and participating in the global finals in Houston in the same year. In addition, in 2017 the KAUST team won 3rd place worldwide in the online Geo-quiz competition, and this year our students won the first place in the SEG ChallengeBowl Middle East competition. These results reflect the growing reputation of KAUST students for academic and research excellence, strengthening the university's recognition within the global petroleum engineering community.
We congratulate our SPE Student Chapter on this significant achievement and we hope to see the PetroBowl cup coming to KAUST in September!
